Abstract

ON admission to the RCVS, veterinary surgeons make a declaration which includes the words, ‘My constant endeavour will be to ensure the welfare of animals committed to my care’. The provisions of the Guide to Professional Conduct are designed to enable veterinary surgeons to fulfil that obligation and not to inhibit competition. The other purpose of the guide is to produce a level playing field so that members of the profession can work in harmony. The purpose of this article is to highlight some potential areas of conflict peculiar to the equine world.
