Scaling dermatoses of the dog

    Gordon Sture graduated from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 1986. After two years in practice he moved to the Dermatology Unit, Royal Veterinary College, London. Having gained the RCVS certificate in small animal dermatology in 1990, he completed a residency in dermatology at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 1992. Currently, he is the holder of a Wellcome Trust Veterinary Training Scholarship at the ‘Dick’ and is presently completing a PhD in cutaneous immunology.

Abstract

SCALING dermatoses in the dog have an initially daunting number of potential causes. This article outlines the likely precipitating conditions and highlights clinical features helpful in narrowing the differential diagnosis. In addition, the use of topical therapies is briefly reviewed.
