ACHIEVING an appropriate level of staffing in a veterinary practice is harder than it at first may appear. Although it is possible to determine the number of full-time positions that need to be filled, it is quite an art to find the right people to satisfy all the requirements. Because of this difficulty, many practices opt to employ part-time members of staff. However, as Dixon Gunn points out, this may not always be the most economical way of solving a staffing shortage.
