ACCORDING to results from recent BVA-SPVS Practice Surveys, practices appear to be increasingly dependent on drug sales - the value of which has risen from 40 per cent of turnover in 1991 to 45 per cent in 1996. However, costs, in particular overheads and establishment costs, are being contained with a smaller proportion of turnover being used to cover them. This cost control has benefited partners more than assistants, whose remuneration has just kept pace with inflation.
