Vaccination in cats - an update
  1. Susan Dawson

    Susan Dawson is a lecturer in the department of veterinary clinical science and animal husbandry at Liverpool. She holds a PhD for studies on feline calicivirus.

  2. Ros Gaskell

    Ros Gaskell has been based at Liverpool since 1983, working on feline infectious diseases with a particular interest in feline respiratory disease. She was awarded a personal chair in 1998.

  3. Os Jarrett

    Os Jarrett is professor of comparative virology in the department of veterinary pathology at Glasgow. His main interest is the biology of the feline viruses, particularly FeLV and FIV.


VACCINES are marketed in the UK for feline parvovirus, feline calicivirus, feline herpesvirus, feline leukaemia virus and Chlamydia psittaci. Rabies virus vaccines are also available for special purposes. Individual vaccination regimens depend on many factors, including husbandry systems and prevalence of disease. This article discusses current general recommendations.
