Abstract

IN recent years there has been a definite trend in veterinary practice towards clinical specialisation, with both first opinion practices increasingly offering a referral component, and wholly referral practices springing up. Referral practice has different management needs from those of general practice, and, according to Caroline Jevring, this is an issue which has still to be seriously addressed by the profession.
