THAT veterinary referral is becoming more commonplace is beyond doubt; not only have a number of private referral practices appeared, but there has also been a huge expansion in the referral services offered at each of the UK veterinary schools. Here, Malcolm Ness explores some of the business and ethical aspects of referrals from the personal viewpoint of a referral clinician. On page 274, John Bower gives a general practitioner's view.
