An approach to clinical problems on pig farms

  1. Laura Green

Laura Green graduated with honours from the University of Bristol in 1987. She gained an MSc in epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 1989 and a PhD from the University of Bristol in 1992. She subsequently held a lectureship in animal health at Bristol and, in July 1999, moved to the University of Warwick to take up her current post as lecturer in epidemiology.

Abstract

IT is possible to investigate most clinical problems on farms using a similar approach. In this article, which is orientated towards pigs, the description of the approach is detailed and will result in a careful, systematic clinical investigation. In practice, clinicians will use their experience and knowledge of a unit to help them move rapidly through some stages of the investigation.
