    Maria Muniz qualified from Le6n University in Spain and initially spent a few years in mixed practice. She is now Clinical Trials Manager at Intervet UK, with responsibility for conducting clinical trials for the development of antiparasiticides, feed additives, pharmaceutical products and biological vaccines.

    Adrian Cox qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1992. He spent three years in mixed practice in North Yorkshire, developing an interest in pig medicine, before moving to a practice in Cholsey, Oxon, where he deals exclusively with the pig sector.

Abstract

FIELD clinical trials are an essential part of the process for bringing a new pharmaceutical product on to the market. Pharmaceutical companies increasingly need to recruit veterinary practitioners who are willing to participate as field investigators in such trials. In this article, Maria Muniz and Adrian Cox explain the role of the field investigator within the structure of a clinical trial.
