Professional Development
A practical approach to CPD planning and delivery
  1. Carole Clarke

Carole Clarke qualified from Cambridge in 1981 and is in small animal practice with her husband David and five other vets in King's Lynn where they see first‐opinion and referral cases. She was awarded the Certificate in Veterinary Practice Management in 1996. In 1999, the practice won several awards for customer service and staff development, including a National Training Award for excellence in training, and Service Enterprise of the Year from the borough of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. She is currently senior vicepresident of the Veterinary Practice Management Association.

THE ever‐increasing number of CPD courses and information sources available to vets means that practices taking a more focused approach to organising their staff training are likely to reap the most rewards. Here, Carole Clarke describes how CPD is planned for within her six‐vet small animal hospital.
