UNTIL recent years, the management of a veterinary practice was usually carried out by the senior or managing partner. As the responsibilities of running a business have increased, so too has the number of managers employed specifically to run practices. In the first of two articles, Maggie Shilcock describes the multitude of tasks which comprise a practice manager's role and explains that the key to effective practice management is to delegate and oversee these tasks appropriately, while working with the practice's owners to ensure that the business continues to succeed.
