    Morag Irwin graduated in chemistry from the University of Nottingham and gained an MEd (Special Needs) from the University of Leeds. She specialised in teaching children with special needs for 20 years, achieving the deputy headship of a Special School. She joined the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in 2001 and found it to be a breath of fresh air which ‘revived a flagging work ethic’!

Abstract

LAST year, health and safety (H&S) inspector Morag Irwin launched the UK's first proactive H&S inspections of veterinary practices in her local area. Here, she describes how the project arose and was put into action, while, on page 379, Martin Stelfox, a vet on the receiving end of an inspection, recounts how an initially daunting prospect turned into a positive experience.
