Abstract

THIS October will see new laws come into force to prevent discrimination at work against anyone on the grounds that they are ‘too old’ or ‘too young’. In the first of two articles, Matthew Clayton explores why the new laws are being introduced, who will benefit from them, and what defences might be brought against claims of age discrimination. The second article, to appear in the next issue, will look in more detail at how the laws will affect day‐to‐day business and what practical preparations veterinary practices can make.
