Alastair Mitchell joined the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in 1991, based at Worcester, and during his career has gained much front-line experience as an operational inspector dealing with agriculture and the construction industry. In 2004, he moved to the HSE's Policy Group (agriculture and food sector), where he works in the health, education and chemicals section. His other areas of responsibility include vocational qualifications, manual handling, and veterinary matters.
Abstract
STATISTICS indicate that slips and trips are the most common causes of injuries in UK workplaces, yet their significance is often overlooked. In the first of an occasional series of articles focusing on practical health and safety issues in veterinary practice, Alastair Mitchell suggests what can be done to stop such accidents happening in the first place.
