The form of treatment usually recommended for sheep with septic pedal arthritis is amputation of the digit, but farmers may be reluctant to follow this course of action. This article discusses an alternative, joint lavage, which can be undertaken on farm without specialised equipment. It describes the technique as well as discussing the outcome of treatment.
